1. Our Philosophy at Horse Camp Mongolia
Bringing a Safe and Compassionate Horse-Riding Culture from Mongolia to the World
For us, horseback riding is about more than simply getting on a horse.
We offer an experience of riding across Mongolia’s vast steppes while learning about each horse’s personality and natural behavior, as well as the proper ways to interact with and handle horses.
To ensure that even first-time riders feel comfortable and confident, we carefully explain the basics before each ride, including correct riding posture, rein handling, starting, stopping, and turning.
We prioritize safety at every stage, tailoring the program to each participant’s experience and the conditions of the day.
2. What Makes Our Horse Camp Special
Small Groups of Up to Five Guests
Each program accommodates a maximum of five guests. Rather than traveling in a large group, we provide personalized support based on each participant’s riding experience and physical condition.
An instructor and an assistant staff member usually accompany each group. However, when there is only one participant, the instructor may be the only staff member accompanying the ride.
Learn to Ride from the Basics
Instead of heading straight out onto the grasslands, guests first learn how to interact with horses and master the basic riding techniques.
For beginners, the goal is to enjoy horseback riding across the grasslands safely under staff supervision. Experienced riders will be offered suitable riding activities after their skills have been assessed.
Complimentary Safety Equipment
We provide the following essential riding equipment free of charge:
- Riding helmet
- Body protector
- Half chaps
As sizes and quantities are limited, we may ask for your height and body measurements when you make your reservation.
Experience Traditional Nomadic Culture
At our camp, you can experience more than horseback riding. You will also discover the traditional lifestyles of Mongolia’s grassland communities and the culture that has developed alongside horses.
Enjoy time in a traditional ger, breathtaking steppe landscapes, and star-filled night skies—an authentic Mongolian experience far removed from city life.
3. Meet Our Team
Yanjima | Chief Riding Instructor
Yanjima is the chief riding instructor responsible for the horseback riding programs at Horse Camp Mongolia.
She guides participants through horse handling, mounting and dismounting, correct riding posture, starting, stopping, and turning, while taking into account each rider’s experience and condition on the day.
With clear and easy-to-follow instructions, she helps even first-time riders enjoy horseback riding across the Mongolian steppes, always putting safety first.
Enjoy the beauty of Mongolia’s vast steppes while connecting with our horses. We provide personalized guidance to help every guest feel comfortable and confident, even if it’s their first time riding.
Support Staff
Our support staff assist with safety checks during rides, horse preparation, fitting riding equipment, and your stay at the camp.
Depending on the group size and program, an assistant staff member and a Japanese- or English-speaking guide may accompany you.
Please note that the staff members assigned to your experience may vary depending on the date and program.
4. Camp Facilities
Horse Camp Mongolia is based at Bayarmaa Camp, located in the vast grasslands of Mongolia.
The camp has five traditional Mongolian gers, offering guests the opportunity to experience staying in a traditional nomadic dwelling.
Main Facilities
- Guest accommodation in traditional gers
- Dining and relaxation area
- Pit toilets
- Horse-riding equipment
- Horse care and management area
Please note that there are currently no shower facilities at the camp. We kindly ask guests to understand that this is a simple, rustic camp located in the open grasslands before joining us.
5. Location & Access
The horse-riding base and camp for our tours is Bayarmaa Camp, located in Erdene soum on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar.
Surrounded by Mongolia’s vast open grasslands, the camp offers an ideal setting for basic riding lessons, horseback riding across the steppe, and overnight stays in traditional Mongolian gers.

Estimated Travel Time to the Camp
- Approximately 2 hours by car from central Ulaanbaatar
- Approximately 2 hours by car from Chinggis Khaan International Airport
Travel times may vary depending on road conditions, traffic, weather, and other factors.
Depending on the tour package, transfers are provided from hotels in central Ulaanbaatar or Chinggis Khaan International Airport. The meeting point and departure time will be provided after your reservation is confirmed.
As the horse-riding grounds and camp are not located at a site with a clearly marked address like a typical tourist attraction, we generally recommend using our arranged transfer rather than traveling to the camp independently.
